Work Description:

We are currently working on bringing several large scale projects to production, as well as modernizing some of our previous solutions to drive an expansion into the US market. We are looking for a software / web developer to assist in all aspects of this process. Work duties include:

  • All aspects of the development cycle - analysis, design, programming and testing
  • Programming web applications, web services and MVC applications
  • Building complete websites/applications from scratch
  • Writing optimized front-end/back-end code using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, MySQL
  • Analyze feature designs and devise technical solutions.
  • Iterate design based on insights, feedback and user data.

Technical Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum 2 years full-stack experience developing web applications with JavaScript/CSS/HTML
  • Experience developing in a Linux environment and at least a basic understanding of Linux terminal use/commands.
  • Ability to design and implement optimized database queries using MySQL.
  • Experience with code/database optimization. Ability to write efficient code.
  • Comfortable with web user interface design and user experience optimization.
  • Ability to adapt techniques and acquired knowledge to other programming languages / frameworks.

Bonus:

  • Experience with Angular 2 / TypeScript
  • Experience with NodeJS server development
  • Experience with PHP
  • Experience with Apache Cordova/Phonegap mobile app deployment

Personal Qualifications:

  • Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Web Development or a related field, or relevant work experience.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, organizational and time management skills.

Controller - Kelowna, BC, Canada - January 2019 - Closed

Being the controller at Minds is a challenging responsibility. This new position calls for a dynamic and trustworthy individual capable of contributing to the implementation of a new manufacturing and accounting system in a fast growing international small company with multiple opportunities and few resources. Are you ready for this challenge?

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, Human Resources, and Operations etc.
  • Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc. when necessary
  • Assume a leading role in the implementation of a new manufacturing and accounting system
  • Work closely with President in the development and economic evaluation of various fringe benefit programs for staff and program components
  • Interface with outside audit firms(s), banks and lessors, casualty/liability insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and collection agencies
  • Manage commercial banking relationships
  • Safeguard assets and assure accurate and timely recording of all transactions related to project development and manufacturing activities
  • Develop, improve and issue timely monthly financial records for President
  • Provide financial analysis tools to evaluate company ventures or special projects, programs, capital expenditures, products costing, etc. when necessary
  • Other duties as necessary

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

Manages the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Accounting/Finance & HR functions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; five or more related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA license is preferred but not required. Knowledge of Oracle NetSuite system a plus.

LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general technical procedures, or governmental regulations; ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries and complaints. Effective and persuasive presentation skills. Knowledge of French is a plus.

Must be able to calculate figures and amounts for all bookkeeping, payroll, budgets, statistical analysis and probability statements. Controller must use the utmost discretion in all presentations/correspondence and communication for staff, Board of Directors and Executive Director.

Office in Kelowna and/or from home.
