SolidWorks Drafting Technician - Kelowna, BC, Canada

Job Description

We are currently looking for a full-time SolidWorks Drafting Technician to support our growing business from our office in Kelowna.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares routine drafting projects, such as the preparation of various drawings of structures and equipment systems derived from descriptions &/or sketches.
  • Prepare drawings and renders.
  • Consults with on-site technicians, project managers and software developers regarding the model accuracy.
  • Make modifications to existing drawings for change requests from Project Manager or Software Developers as necessary
  • Works as an effective and proactive team player; understands the importance of supporting our software developers and on-site technicians.
  • Other duties and responsibilities subject to your supervisor’s discretion.

Education and Skills Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma in drafting and 1-year relevant experience.
  • Computer aided drafting experience is essential; SolidWorks experience required.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and have a demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to present oneself and communicate in a professional, positive, and courteous manner at all times with customers and all levels of employees.
  • Adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and can deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
  • Demonstrates pattern of positive attitude, strong work ethic and dedication.

Salary: Commensurate with Experience

Work Hours: Based on 40 hours a week.

Paid Vacations: 3 weeks per year 1 week is mandatory to be taken December 24 through January 2.

Windows Software Developer - Kelowna, BC, Canada

  • Work with project managers to understand customer requirements.
  • Implement, test, and maintain traditional and real-time Windows applications and libraries for use in industrial environments.
  • Assist in supporting and troubleshooting issues as they arise in the field.
  • Develop tools to improve and streamline development processes.

Education and Skills Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma in Computer Science or related field.
  • Experience with C/C++ (Embarcadero, Visual Studio, C++98 - C++17)
  • Experience with Windows API, COM
  • Familiarity with basic networking and database concepts and Windows OS troubleshooting
  • Ability to work under deadlines and have a demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

Senior Electronic Hardware Designer - Kelowna, BC, Canada

Job Description

We are currently looking for a full-time Senior Electronic Hardware Designer to support our growing business from our office in Kelowna BC.

The Senor Electronic Hardware Designer conducts research, design, development (including low level embedded software), and testing of electronics hardware for industrial process control systems, which includes measuring and controlling instrumentation, and other electronic systems and circuits.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct applied research for product design, development, and testing in fields of electronic and electrical engineering.
  • Collect and document requirements, assess feasibility, and develop physical specifications.
  • Prepare material cost and time estimates.
  • Plan, design, develop, manage prototype production and test electronics hardware and low level software for industrial process control systems and other electronic systems and circuits.
  • Implement revisions and maintenance of printed circuit board (PCB) designs and related files.
  • Prepare internal test procedures and working instructions and conduct validation and verification testing during the product development stages.
  • Participate in developing product documentation, including product usage, characteristics, and tolerances. Conduct, or assist in developing external manufacturing and assembly procedures and work instructions.
  • Write internal test procedures and working instructions in-accordance to the quality management system.
  • Provide technical support to cross-functional departments.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of electrical, and electronic circuits, sensors and systems.
  • Comply with relevant industry codes & regulatory standards.
  • Comply with policies and procedures as specified in the Minds Automation Group Employee Handbook.
  • Occasional travel Canada and USA.


Education and Skills Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • A minimum of 7 years designing electronic hardware circuits including:
    • FPGA digital design
    • Experience with mixed signal including DSP, DAC/ADC
    • Analog designs and simulation (SPICE, etc.)
    • Experience with high speed microprocessors and digital circuits
    • Schematic capture; PCB layout and routing; designing dense multi-layer boards, Altium electronic CAD software.
    • Experience designing power supply, high voltage and isolation circuits
    • Experience with signal integrity analysis of analog and digital signals
    • Coding experience for embedded systems – Python, C/C++, HDL, Assembler, Linux, Windows Programming
  • Punctual, meticulous, and reliable.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment as a member of a cross functional team with colleagues across North America
  • Good time management skills and ability to work with limited supervision
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to mentor junior engineers
  • Comfortable with challenging development projects and emerging requirements
  • Ability to accurately scope, estimate, and schedule work on projects
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills; French is an asset
  • Demonstrated positive attitude and self-motivation

  • Control panel mounting/installation
  • Configuration of control software, I/O routing
  • Startup/commission on customer site
  • On-site and remote support in Quebec
  • Installation support throughout the realization of the project
